September 8, 2018

#SPAIC2018 is nearly here! We are excited to announce the workshops available to all ticket holders for SPAIC. Unlike in previous years... ALL WORKSHOPS ARE FREE! Yes, you read that correctly. From Wilderness Medicine and Disaster Management to RSI Airway Skills and Cardiac Exams, we believe there is a workshop for all.

Below is the list of workshops being held at SPAIC with details including time, day, details of workshop etc.

DISASTER MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP

With Lachie Ophof

Effective planning is integral to emergency management, and clear and practical guidelines will help to achieve a consistent approach when developing emergency management plans at state, regional and municipal levels.  The process of planning helps build clarity and understanding of the roles and responsibilities, standards and capabilities required before, during and after emergencies.  This is an opportunity to take a light-hearted approach towards testing your abilities to make strategic decisions in the face of adversity.
Date and Time: Saturday Session C and D
Duration: 50 minutes

AMBULANCE VICTORIA (AV) SIMULATION TRAINING WORKSHOP

With John Reed and Joshua Tait from Ambulance Victoria (AV)

Description: Occupational Violence Cultural Change. Many paramedics accepted occupational violence as just “part of the job” which was not in line with community and management expectations at Ambulance Victoria. The workshop will cover the research, development and delivery of an award winning cultural change program to address occupational violence. Participants will also have the opportunity to review one of the occupational violence virtual reality scenarios.
Date and Time: Friday Session A and B
Duration: 50 minutes

RSI WORKSHOP

With the Adelaide Student Society of Critical Care (ASSCC)

Description: Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI) is the fastest and most effective means of controlling the emergency airway. It is used both in hospital, and in a pre-hospital environment for select cases of massive trauma, airway burns, drowning – whenever there is actual or impending airway compromise or ventilatory failure.
During this hour we will cover the indications for RSI in a pre-hospital environment, the risks, and all the steps from making the decision to a secure airway. You will then get to test your skills with a laryngoscope on high fidelity airway models and practice the steps of RSI.
Date and Time: Saturday Session C and D
